What a great time we had today!
The biggest crowd ever, with 10 people and 11 dogs.
Dogs who had never been here before:
Stella
Alex and Casper
Bubba and Boomer
Dogs who had come before:
Amber
Griffen
Zoe
Duncan, Darby, and Betsy
Dogs are Amber, Darby, Stella, Zoe, Bubba, Boomer, Griffen, Alex, Casper, with Duncan out front and Betsy cuddled up with Sam.
Here you can see Betsy's mouth and Zoe better.
We love our new deck, built by Matt Wilder.
WOW!
What a great day we had at the 5th annual Responsible
Dog Ownership Day (RDOD) of Central Mississippi!!!
We met SO MANY Golden Retrievers and their owners, most of whom are interested in coming to play with us.
Sam and I were encouraged by how many nice people
have Goldens in the Ridgeland/Madison/Jackson area.
Please keep checking this website to stay in touch.
We're also on Facebook: search for Golden Retriever Playgroup and befriend/like us so you can have
another avenue to find out our playdates.
June 21, 2010Michelle and I took Darby and Betsy to the dog show in Pensacola, FL. Darby competed in Rally Excellent A and Betsy was in Rally Novice B. They each qualified all three shows, and "placed" two times each...Darby got two thirds and Betsy got a second and a fourth.
Betsy also took the Highest Scoring Golden Retriever
in all three Rally trials!

Today was a great play time, even though it was hot.
We had seven dogs and ten people.
Three people and two dogs had never been here before.
We're always so glad to meet new people
and try to get them involved in dog activities in the area.
Guests included:
Cindy and "Elvis,"
Lindsay and "Axel",
Becki and "Amber,"
Michelle and "Griffen,"
Beth, who currently has no dogs but wanted to come meet people
and get some Golden kisses,
our daughter and two grandchildren (Dixie, Ethan and Jaylie),
and the two of us and our three dogs, "Duncan," "Darby," and "Betsy."
I think this is Axel on the left, with Amber and Elvis toward the middle, Griffen behind Elvis, and Darby in the foreground.
Looks like Griffen and Elvis are head-to-head!

Duncan looks pretty happy with himself right now. To the left is Elvis and Becki's holding Amber. She would run herself "sick" chasing the tennis ball if Becki didn't hold her back every now and then.
Grif and Betsy watching Axel doing something....

Everybody enjoying the morning.
Notice the ball. Anyone wonder what Amber wants me to do?
We got to play on Saturday, March 27.
We had nine people and nine dogs, including three people
and two dogs who had never come to play before.
New people included Stacey with "Zoe,"
and Melanie with "Cherokee."
People who had been there before included
Anna Katherine and Meagan (Meagan hadn't been here before)
with "Avery" and "Kelsey,"
Debra with"Jake,"
Michelle with "Griffen,"
and Sam, Ethan and me with "Duncan," "Darby," and "Betsy."
We got some pictures I'll share showing the fun we all had.
Getting acquainted. I think this is Jake and Cherokee at the center of the action, Darby looking on, little Kelsey watching from afar, and probably Avery walking away.
These three all seem to be the same color.
I think it's Griffen farthest back, then Betsy in the middle,
and Jake in the front.
Ethan and Anna Katherine playing in the back.
Four boys: Cherokee is the dark one, Griffen has on the bandana, Avery in the back and Jake looking at Cherokee.
Betsy is cooling off in the shade.
Darby is eating the yummy frozen treat Michelle brought for everyone. It's yogurt and peanut butter, blended and frozen.
Griffen knew what to do with the little bowl, too.
This is Zoe. She is a Goldendoodle.
Stacey was looking for a group of big friendly dogs
for her to get to play with. She found us.
I'm sorry I didn't get a better picture of Zoe.
Saturday, November 14, 1:00-2:00 PM.
We had a great time letting the dogs play, and letting the people visit.
We had seven dogs
(Jake, Griffen, Amber, Lily, Duncan, Darby and Betsy)
and seven people.
(Debbie, Michelle, Becki, Wes, Jaime, Sam and Carol)
Becki brought treats for all.
I think this is Jake, Darby, Betsy, Lily and Griffen.
If Darby could talk, she'd say,
"OUT of my face, Jake!"
Amber quit chasing the ball long enough to get in this picture.
Don't you just love Golden faces!?
Darby is soaking up some lovin' from Deb.
Duncan is standing by, and Lily is trying to see where the action is.
Jake had a great time, as you can see from his elevated ears
and the dust that is being kicked up!
Do you want to find a group of people
in the Jackson, Mississippi, area,
who love Golden Retrievers,
where you can get acquainted and
have a fun place to let your GRs play together
in a safe environment?
That's what I'm hoping this website will develop.
Send me your ideas on how this can work.
Let's come up with safe places to get our GRs together,
as well as share ideas and problems unique to Golden Retrievers,
dog activities in the area,
good (or bad) products for our dogs,
and maybe even information about good (or bad) breeders,
who needs a stud, good petsitters and things like that.
This could expand to be quite a group dedicated to the good of our breed.

We got to have our third meeting of the
Golden Retrievers' Own Unique Playgroup (GROUP).
We had nine dogs in attendance...seven Goldens and two housemates:
Pierce, for the first time
Betsy, for the first time
Darby
Duncan
Griffen
Lily
Layla
Avery
Kelsey
We also had five people: Sam, Carol, Michelle, Phil, and Jen.
Here are some pictures of our playtime together.
Betsy joined our household April 20, 2009.
She turned one year old May 28, 2009.
This was her first time to get to play with the dogs of GROUP.
This is Pierce. His birthday is tomorrow, June 14. He will be seven!
He seemed to really enjoy getting out with all the other dogs.
This is Layla and Duncan.
From left to right are Darby, Kelsey, Lily, Betsy, Duncan in the back, Griffen, and Avery...I think.
After playing everyone needed a drink and a fan.
Pierce (or is that Darby?) and Layla are in the back,
Griffen is drinking with Kelsey looking on, and Lily and Betsy in the front.
One more of Betsy.
After having to cancel our January 24 meeting due to rain,
we got to get together on January 31, 2009.
We had a few more dogs this time.
Goldens attending were Layla, Lily, Griffen, Avery,
Louie, Cheznie and Darby.
Housemate dogs attending were Duncan and Kelsey.
Welcome to our home!
Layla got to come over for the first time.
We got to visit, drink wassail and coffee, and have gingerbread muffins.
We built a teeter totter to let the dogs try some agility activities.
We also have a jump that several tried.
Yeah, my hands smelled like treats.

These Goldens got together Saturday, 9-27-08, and had a great time.

Louie, Amber, Darby, Cheznie

Amber is one ball-driven Golden!!!

Griffen takes time out to chew.

Louie was the oldest GR there at 12 years. He's feeling his years lately.
